GreenUP Ecology Park Events

April and May are busy months as we prepare to open the GreenUP Ecology Park for another growing season. We’ve got a variety of great workshops and events coming up. Read on to learn more.

Edible Tree Grafting Workshop
April 26th 1 to 3:30 pm
GreenUP Offices, 378 Aylmer St. N.
There are many ways to produce healthy edible trees other than planting seeds. Join Andy Harjula and GreenUP to learn the art of grafting. This workshop is part of GreenUP’s “Planting our Fruiture” edible forest project.  $10 per person. Pre-register with Marcy workshops (at) www.greenup.on.ca

Trees Ontario/GreenUP Community Tree Planting
May 3rd 10 am to 12:00 pm
Storm Water Pond Across from PRHC (Medical Drive and Alexander Ct)
Join us to make a difference in our community by planting trees and improving our urban forest. We’re partnering with Trees Ontario and Otonabee Conservation to plant trees around the storm water pond across from PRHC. Bring the whole family. Register online here by clicking “save event” 

Leaf UNtuck
May 10th, 1 to 4 pm
GreenUP Ecology Park, 1899 Ashburnham Drive
Join us at the park on Saturday, May 10th from 1 to 4 to help us welcome spring and wake up the park for another season. Volunteers are needed to help remove leaves that have been protecting the park’s nursery stock and trees during the frigid winter.

Selecting and Planting Edible Landscapes

May 18th 1:30 to 3:00 pm
GreenUP Ecology Park, 1899 Ashburnham Drive
Join us on opening day at GreenUP Ecology Park for a workshop on the topic of selecting and planting edible landscapes including size of species and space, hardiness, pollination requirements, maintenance, soil characteristics and sources of healthy nursery stock. Participants will also learn how to plant a tree properly and what is required for the first few years of growth. Pick up some of your edible plants and trees at the plant sale as well!  $10 per person. Pre-register with Marcy workshops (at) www.greenup.on.ca

Spring Plant Sale
May 18th 11:30 am to 4 pm
GreenUP Ecology Park, 1899 Ashburnham Drive
Plan to attend GreenUP Ecology Park’s annual spring plant sale! We’ve got a wide variety of native plants, trees, shrubs, mulch and compost for sale. Also, expert advice from Master Gardeners. A must-attend event.
