SUMMARY:Restoration Wednesday - Tree Planting
DESCRIPTION:Join GreenUP for the final Restoration Wednesday of 2026! Together we will be planting 150 native trees and shrubs to replace the invasive buckthorn removed from the woodland at GreenUP Ecology Park this season. \nNo experience is necessary\, just a willingness to learn and get your hands dirty! \nWhat to Bring:\nSturdy\, closed-toe shoes\nLong pants & sun protection (hat\, sunscreen)\nRain coat (weather dependent)\nWater bottle\nLunch and snacks \nAccessibility & Weather:\nWe aim to make these events flexible and inclusive. Tasks will involve bending\, kneeling\, digging\, and walking on uneven terrain. If you are unsure about your capacity\, let us know; we’ll find a way for you to contribute meaningfully! In heavy rain\, we will switch to sheltered tasks. If you have accessibility needs or concerns\, please get in touch with us in advance. We have an accessible washroom. However\, only some areas of the Park are fully accessible to mobility device users. \nPerks for Volunteers:\nLearn hands-on ecological restoration skills.\nMeet great people and engage with your community. \nQuestions?\nWe’ll reach out to confirm your attendance and provide additional information. You can also email us at ecologypark@greenup.on.ca with any questions or concerns. \nGreenUP is grateful to the Trans Canada Trail’s Planting for Tomorrow program\, Trent University\, and the Invasive Species Action Fund for their support of Restoration Wednesdays in 2026. \nTo volunteer at this event\, sign-up here: GreenUP Volunteer Portal!\n
