Tegan Moss (she/her/they/them) is the Executive Director at GreenUP. (Currently on leave). Tegan has a Bachelor’s of Arts, with Honours, in Environmental Studies from Trent University and is an award-winning leader. Since 2010, Tegan has been working to increase climate resilience by teaching community building, active transportation, and sustainable gardening. As the former Executive Director at B!KE, Tegan grew a small grassroots organization into one of the highest capacity community bike shops in Canada. Tegan recently served as an executive on Board of Directors for the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area and Vélo Canada Bikes. Tegan is energized by working with people to achieve beautiful things. As the Executive Director at GreenUP Tegan strives to engage community in addressing the climate crisis. In her free time Tegan can often be found riding her mountain bike or with dirty hands in her wild and wonderful garden.

Natalie Stephenson (she/her) is the Interim Executive Director. Natalie has a Bachelor’s of Arts, with Honours, in Environmental Resource Studies and Sociology from Trent University. She is passionate about the intersections between social and environmental problems. Natalie has a host of experience in grassroots community organizing. When she’s not at GreenUP, you will find Natalie riding on our local trails with her two kiddos, and volunteering on community projects, including King Edward Community Garden and Peterborough VegFest.

Clara Blakelock (she/her) is the Energy Program Manager with GreenUP.  She is an NRCAN Registered Energy Advisor for homes, and a Certified Energy Auditor for commercial buildings. Before starting with Green UP in 2021, Clara worked with Green Communities Canada as a project manager working on initiatives to advance transformative green infrastructure in Canadian communities. Clara has a Master’s in Engineering and Public Policy and an Advanced Certificate in Sustainable Energy Management. She spends her free time mending, sewing, cycling, swinging kettlebells, and wrangling her young children.

Ashley Burnie Seeds (she/her) is the Education & Active Transportation Program Manager at GreenUP working with Shifting Gears and Active School Travel Peterborough. Ashley holds a Bachelor’s of Arts, with Honours, in Global Development Studies from Queen’s University, a post-grad in Project Management from University of Toronto and is a member of the Project Management Institute. Ashley comes about her love of planning and executing projects by way of 10 years of organic farming, where she also found time to become a Red Seal Chef. Ashey is a passionate proponent of people of all bodies and abilities feeling empowered and safe to access active transportation and outdoor spaces. When Ashley isn’t planning events or making spreadsheets, you can find her riding her road bike, sewing her wardrobe or taking very slow nature walks with her young family.

Jackie Donaldson (she/her) is the Green Economy Peterborough Program Manager for GreenUP. Jackie has thirty years of experience in the non-profit, public health, municipal, and small business sectors. Jackie has a Bachelor of Arts Honours, Bachelor of Education, and Master of Arts (Sustainability Studies) from Trent University. She is a Sustainability Excellence Associate with the International Society of Sustainability Professionals and has a certificate in Non-Profit Leadership from Fleming College. Jackie is an active community volunteer who has been on numerous boards and steering committees. While activating climate engagement and action is central to how Jackie moves in the world, she also loves a good adventure: canoe tripping with her family; exploring towns and communities, including her own; cycling whenever she can, and; seeking out (and sampling) butter tarts listed on the Kawarthas Northumberland Butter Tart Tour.

Hayley Goodchild (she/her) is the Landscape Program Manager at GreenUP. Hayley has more than a decade of experience in the non-profit and landscaping sectors and has led multiple programs at GreenUP since 2018. She holds a certificate in Landscape Design from Toronto Metropolitan University, a PhD in Environmental History from McMaster University, and Bachelor of Arts Honours in International Development from Trent University. For Hayley, the work of growing and caring for plants is central to addressing the climate and biodiversity crises. She also enjoys travelling, composting, trying new foods, and listening to live music.

Christina Balint (she/her) is the Volunteer Program Coordinator at GreenUP. With a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Education and Communication, Christina’s focus is on hands-on environmental learning and community building. Christina accrued a diverse range of experiences in her 20 years outside of Canada including being Country Director of the NGO Bridges to Community in rural Dominican Republic, and Science Department Head at GEMS American Academy in Qatar. She has been involved in a variety of natural building and community development projects, most notably building Central America’s largest plastic bottle construction: the Derrumbadero Youth Centre, built by local youth and community members with over 50,000 bottles as bricks. Beyond work, Christina loves a good book, refereeing soccer and playing ultimate frisbee.

Melanie Ellison (she/her) is the Education Programs Coordinator at GreenUP. Melanie holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Forest Conservation from University of Toronto, a Master of Science in Entomology from University of California Davis, and a Teaching Credential in Math and Science. Melanie has been a Certified Arborist since 2003, specializing in pruning fruit trees and creating large-scale tree inventories. Melanie has a passion for helping youth discover their power as creative problem-solvers and change-makers, especially when it comes to environmental issues. In her free time, Melanie loves travelling with her three children, swimming, and doing carpentry projects with repurposed wood.

Bryn Magee (he/him) is a Registered Energy Advisor with GreenUP’s Residential Programs. In the past, Bryn volunteered for four years in the GreenUP Store and Resource Centre. Bryn has a Master’s in Environmental and Life Sciences from Trent University, an Advanced Cooperative Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Industrial) from Centennial College, and is a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). Away from work, Bryn can be found enjoying the beautiful outdoors for all it has to offer through numerous activities.

Yvonne Hollandy (she/her) is the Communications Specialist at GreenUP. Yvonne has a wealth of experience in graphic design, marketing, visual storytelling, community-building, and strategic sensemaking. Her decades-long career has gifted her the opportunity to share hundreds of wonderful stories in a variety of innovative ways as the face of media has evolved. Working with communities around the world, Yvonne’s graphic reflections are a renowned form of “harvesting” a conversation or event. In her spare time, she can be found dancing, doing yoga, reading, working on home renovations, and spending time with her friends and family. Yvonne has a passion for repurposing old items to bring them new life, and a strong interest in promoting sustainable environmental practices as a proud aunt who wishes to leave a better world for her precious nieces and nephews.

Andréanna Sullivan (she/her/they/them) is the Landscape Program Coordinator at GreenUP. They hold a Bachelor of Science, with honours in Geography from Trent University, and an emphasis on GIS and planning. They have served on several boards of directors, contributing to strategic planning, bylaw reviews, and volunteer coordination. Across both professional and volunteer work, Andréanna is passionate about fostering empathetic engagement between people, place, and self. They enjoy rock climbing, creative endeavours, and spending free time with their pup.

Jonathan Armstrong (he/him) is the Ecology Park Program Coordinator at GreenUP. Jonathan spent seven years in the Heating and Air Conditioning sector before completing the Conservation Biology program at Fleming College’s Frost Campus, and is continuing his studies at Trent University. Growing up on a peach farm in the Niagara region, Jonathan developed a deep passion for all things green and continues to obsess over every tree he encounters. Full of fun facts and always eager to share, Jonathan loves chatting with coworkers and customers alike about his new daily interests. Outside of work, he spends his time reading, playing video games, and trying new recipes.

Rebekkah Hyams (she/her) is the Green Economy Peterborough Program Coordinator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Sussex and a Master of Arts in Conflict, Security, and Development from King’s College London, UK. With over a decade of experience across non-profits, academic institutions, and the public sector, Rebekkah specializes in engaging diverse stakeholders, delivering impactful programs, and advancing sustainability through communication, joyful outreach, and actionable practices. She enjoys collaborating with community partners to promote circular economy systems — an approach she brings to life through her small, preloved children’s clothing shop. Outside of work, you can find her biking local trails with her three young children, dancing until her feet hurt, or knitting with friends.

Brett Throop (he/him) is the Active Transportation Program Coordinator at GreenUP. Brett has a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian Studies from Trent University, a Master of Journalism degree from Carleton University, and is completing a post-graduate certificate in Sustainable Urban and Transportation Planning from Seneca Polytechnic. Before GreenUP, he worked as a journalist for about a decade, covering cycling and transit issues whenever his editors would let him. Brett counts bikes going by wherever he goes and thinks endlessly about how to make streets safer for everyone. His other major obsession is growing vegetables at his community garden plot.

Laura Keresztesi (she/her) is the Landscape Program Coordinator at GreenUP. Laura holds a Bachelor’s of Community Design from Dalhousie University and a post-graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems from Fleming College. Since graduating, Laura has enjoyed working in the field of community development in a variety of different capacities. From helping to plant kitchen gardens in Tegucigalpa to working in a Toronto City Councillor’s office, Laura has been honoured to have the opportunity to work directly with neighbours, forming meaningful relationships and partnerships while working towards shared goals. Currently, Laura leads the municipal Rain Garden Subsidy Program in collaboration with the City of Peterborough and is also leading the NeighbourHOODs program. Laura is grateful for any opportunity to be outside.  She enjoys gardening, camping, cycling, pottery and is always eager to explore and imagine the world with her young children – as long as she’s had her morning quota of Yorkshire Gold.

Amelia McKinney (she/her) is a Native Plant Nursery Assistant at GreenUP Ecology Park. A recent graduate from Trent University’s Biology, Honours program, Amelia has been involved in several growing collectives, and has an avid appreciation for sustainable agriculture, apiculture, ethnobotany, and land-based learning. Through her experience at GreenUP, Amelia has had the opportunity to better understand the value of community-based, nature-guided programming in developing a life-long connection with the environment. Beyond the park, Amelia enjoys spending her days exploring outside, reading in the sun, blasting music, and cooking large, colourful meals for her loved ones.

Erika Sweeney Coulombe (she/they; elle/ils) is a Native Plant Nursery Assistant at GreenUP Ecology Park. They hold a joint major bachelor’s degree with honours in Environmental and Resource Studies as well as Agriculture and Sustainable Food Systems from Trent University. Their interests are in gender and social justice in relation to food security, and for two years they served as an executive member for Trent Oxfam as Food Security Commissioner. In Erika’s spare time, they enjoy creating art out of natural found items like leaves or berries, and can otherwise be found spending weekends birding or urban foraging if they aren’t spending time with their sphynx cat, “Devious.”

Emma Hyland (she/her) is a Native Plant Nursery Assistant at GreenUP Ecology Park. She is pursuing a BA at Dalhousie University, majoring in International Development and Sustainability with a minor in Indigenous Studies. Emma is president of the Dalhousie Bike Society, working to reduce barriers to active transit. Emma also cares about accessibility to knowledge about native plants and believes that re-wilding, even in the small scale of personal lawns, makes a difference.

Alex Karn (they/them) is the Communications & Administrative Associate at GreenUP. Alex has a passion for place-based storytelling and about two decades of experience in community journalism. When they’re not highlighting the creativity, compassion and good works of local people, Alex enjoys taking in the natural beauty of Nogojiwanong. They spend their summers paddle boarding, exploring local trails, and playing board games on the grass with loved ones. Their favourite place to be is by the shore of the Otonabee River at sunrise, and they hope to spread awareness and appreciation of the hard work that goes into protecting the natural spaces we tend to take for granted.
