The YWCA has supported the development of community gardens in Peterborough for over 20 years. Their commitment to providing access to space for individuals and families to grow their own food was fundamental in the creation of the Peterborough Community Garden Network.
Wild Rock Outfitters is a privately owned outdoor and sporting equipment store that has been operating in the Peterborough community for more than 20 years. Wild Rock Outfitters have been keen supporters of community-based recreation and sport initiatives in the City and County of Peterborough for many years.
One of Canada’s top universities, Trent University is renowned for encouraging the dynamic interplay of research, teaching and learning, which enhance and energize each other in the classroom and beyond. The University is consistently recognized nationally for faculty who maintain a high level of innovative research activity and a commitment to the individual student. Trent distinguishes itself through excellence in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences as well as professional and graduate programs.
The Trent Centre for Community-Based Education is an independent, charitable organization that connects students and faculty with local organizations to create community-based research, service learning and experiential education opportunities that enhance the social, environmental, cultural and economic health of our communities.
The Peterborough Field Naturalists is a registered charity and active club in Peterborough, ON. The PFN has a history dating back to 1940 and has voluntarily supported the GreenUP Ecology Park for nearly 20 years with countless volunteers, events, and by lovingly maintaining our winter bird feeders during our off-season.
The Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough is the vital link between caring community members and local causes that matter. We foster philanthropy by pooling endowed and special funds, while our grants to registered charities enhance the quality of life for our citizens.

Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO) oversees student transportation for the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland Clarington Catholic District School Board and Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre-Sud. They are responsible for the integrated planning and provision of service for students from all three Boards.
SPARK is a Greater Peterborough Community-wide photography festival and annual event. The SPARK PHOTO FESTIVAL is a celebration of photography, and the artists, dreamers, innovators, storytellers, professionals and enthusiasts behind the camera lens for the month of April.
The RBC Foundation has been developing policies and building programs to reduce our environmental impact since 1991.
Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board (PVNCCDSB) provides education to approximately 15,000 students in 30 elementary and 6 secondary school communities within an area of 10,000 square km.
That area includes the City of Peterborough, the County of Peterborough, the City of Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland County, and the Municipality of Clarington.
GreenUP is grateful for our long-standing partnership with the Peterborough Utilities Group. GreenUP and the Peterborough Utilities Group are both committed to reducing the amount of water and energy being consumed at home, at work, and at school.

Peterborough Transit serves the City of Peterborough, Ontario with regular and Handi-Van transit services.
The Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre is dedicated to helping citizens explore different ways to exercise and improve their overall wellness and fitness …whatever the goals are. They have been helping people live healthier since 2005.
The Centre partners with local organizations to offer workshops; acquiring a new skill or developing an existing one can help improve and maintain mental wellbeing. Lifelong learning is a great way to make new friends and studies have shown that those with more active social lives are twice as likely to outlive those who lead solitary lives.

The Peterborough Horticultural Society has been an active part of Peterborough since 1861. The Horticultural Society has many activities including plant sales, hands on workshops, and bus tours, and an extensive lending library of gardening books.

The Otonabee Region Conservation Authority is a community-based environmental agency that protects, restores and manages the natural resources within the Otonabee Region watershed. Otonabee Conservation works with its eight member municipalities to create a healthy, environmentally diverse watershed that improves the quality of life for residents, makes our area more appealing to visitors and new business, and helps to ensure a more vibrant regional economy.
One of the largest grantmakers in Canada, Ontario Trillium Foundation is unique for its deployment of 330 volunteers to review and analyze more than 3,000 grant applications each year. To make great grants that help create vibrant and healthy communities, program staff rely on our volunteers to bring their knowledge of local community needs and sectoral expertise to the grant review process.
The Trillium Foundation has recently supported GreenUP through two grants:
- Community Building Fund grant of $52,800 to retrofit and restore the Children’s Garden
- Resilient Communities Fund grant of $80,900 to rebuild and recover from impacts of COVID-19

Nourish is all about food. Nourish is a collaborative partnership between GreenUP, YWCA Peterborough Haliburton, and Peterborough Public Health. Nourish cultivates health, builds community, and promotes fairness through innovative programs dedicated to eating, cooking, growing, and advocating for good food.
The County of Northumberland is the upper tier level of municipal government that weaves together seven diverse, yet complementary municipalities. Northumberland County offers a range of living experiences from historic towns to scenic rolling rural areas to spectacular water settings on Rice Lake, the Trent River and Lake Ontario.
The Kawartha World Issues Centre (KWIC) is a grassroots and charitable Global Education and Resource Centre which promotes dialogue and understanding of world issues to enable people to engage in positive social and environmental change.
Since 1989, KWIC has served Peterborough and the Kawartha region by providing education, analysis, and action on pertinent world issues and their local connections. We do this by organizing educational events and workshops, animating youth-led initiatives, such as Global Youth Day and SEEDS for Justice, facilitating working groups, such as our new KWIC-OXFAM collaboration focusing on Food, Gender and Climate Change, supporting community research projects, internships and placements, a culture of informed and active volunteerism, and sharing resources (free lending library, speaker’s bureau, community events calendar, trained facilitators).
Annual activities include the One World Dinner, the KWIC World Issues Café discussion series and Global Youth Day, as well as collaborations with numerous community groups. As a charitable organization, KWIC has provided support for local emerging initiatives such as Peterborough Green Up, Kawartha Food Share, Peterborough Women’s Events Committee, the Seasoned Spoon Root Cellar Project, Peterborough ReFrame International Film Festival and most recently, TRACKS Aboriginal Youth Outreach program in collaboration with the Trent Indigenous Environmental Sciences program.
The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board serves the Municipality of Clarington, Northumberland County and Peterborough County.
Kawartha Land Trust (KLT) is a non-governmental organization and a registered charity dedicated to acquiring land and interests in land and maintaining it in a natural state.
Kawartha Conservation is a watershed-based, non-profit organization established under the Ontario Conservation Authorities Act. Their focus is outstanding water quality and quantity management, supported by healthy landscapes through planning, stewardship, and science. The organization is governed by the municipalities that overlap the boundaries of the Kawartha Conservation watershed, which include the City of Kawartha Lakes, Region of Durham, Township of Scugog, Township of Brock, Municipality of Clarington, Municipality of Trent Lakes, and Township of Cavan Monaghan.

Green Economy Canada (formerly Sustainability CoLab) works with community organizations to launch and grow Green Economy Hubs across Canada. Green Economy Hubs work with local businesses to set and achieve sustainability targets — bringing together, supporting, and celebrating businesses as they achieve their goals.
Green Communities Canada is a national association of community organizations that help people go green – in their homes and gardens, on the road, at work, and in the community. GCC has over two dozen member organizations in every region of the country, with combined annual revenues of $24 million, 600 employees, and more than 2000 volunteers.
The Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce acts as a catalyst to enhance business growth and opportunity, innovation, partnerships, and a diverse Business Community. The Chamber represents the concerns of business, lobbying for good government and advocating for sound legislation and prosperity, economic growth and development. We also act as a source of information for members, visitors, and tourists.
Fontaine Source For Sports is a local sporting goods store specializing in hockey, cycling, and more. They feature top-level products at competitive prices.
Powered by Future Cities Canada, GreenUP has partnered with Evergreen to bring 100In1Day to Peterborough. Since 1991, Evergreen has been facilitating change. Working with other city builders across Canada to convene, collaborate, and catalyze ideas into action; 100In1Day Canada is part of a growing global movement changing how people collaborate and interact with their cities.
B!KE: The Peterborough Community Cycling Hub is an incorporated not-for-profit, member-based cycling education and support organization. They’ve been working with the Peterborough community since 2006 teaching bike maintenance and repair.
Camp Kawartha provides outdoor, environmental, and educational programming from two locations: their main camp located on Clear Lake and an Environment Centre located at Trent University in Peterborough. They offer day & overnight summer camps for kids, leadership training programs for students, as well as indoor and outdoor facility rentals for group retreats, winter activities and retreats for all ages, youth groups, and team building experiences.
Founded in 2005, Jumpstart Charities helps kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation in an effort to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities.
The Toronto Centre for Active Transportation, a project of the Clean Air Partnership, was launched in 2006. Since then, TCAT has become a recognized leader in research, outreach and community engagement activities, and creating opportunities for citizens, community organizations, and government to share best practices in active transportation in Toronto, Ontario and across Canada. TCAT coordinated the national Active Neighbourhoods Project that was piloted in Peterborough between 2014 and 2016. They will be working with GreenUP and local partners on the NeighbourPLAN Program.
Located just 90 minutes northeast of Toronto, the City of Kawartha Lakes and its many charming communities are nestled amongst beautiful lakes, winding rivers, scenic farmland and pristine wilderness. With over 250 lakes and rivers throughout vast stretches of panoramic beauty, the Kawartha Lakes offer visitors a wealth of leisure activities year round.
The City of Peterborough supports GreenUP through an annual Community Service Grant. This funding supports many of our programs and services which positively impact Peterborough residents each day.
The Community Race Relations Committee of Peterborough is a community-based non-profit organization, committed to promoting positive race relations in Peterborough through community based advocacy, collaborations and education.
The County of Peterborough is an upper tier municipality that is responsible for a range of municipal services that affect the citizens of Peterborough County. These services include: Planning, GIS, Administration and Council Services, Human Resources, Purchasing, Finance, IT, EMS, and Public Works.
The Crossing Guards of Peterborough are employees of the City of Peterborough and are sanctioned under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act to direct children across a public highway at a designated school crossing. Our mandate is to assist elementary school children in crossing the road to and from school safely. The Crossing Guards of Peterborough have been entrusted with this responsibility since 1965.
