Discover the biodiversity right here in Peterborough! Join GreenUP, the Peterborough Field Naturalists, and community volunteers at Ecology Park for a local kick-off to the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s Great Canadian Bioblitz.

A bioblitz is a fun, community-powered effort to observe, identify, and record as many species as possible. Whether you already consider yourself a keen naturalist or are just curious about the plants, insects, fungi, birds, and other wildlife around you, this is a great opportunity to build your identification skills and contribute to our understanding of local biodiversity.

Feel free to drop by anytime between 10am and 2pm on September 19th to get help registering for the Great Canadian Bioblitz, learn how to use iNaturalist to record your observations, and connect with knowledgeable local naturalists.

Featured will also be a bug sweep and a guided tour of Ecology Park, highlighting some of the plant and wildlife habitat projects already underway throughout the park.

• 11am and noon: Bug sweep demonstrations by Trent student volunteers
• 1pm: Park ecosystem tour by landscape program manager Hayley Goodchild

All ages and experience levels are welcome. Bring a phone or tablet if you’d like to try iNaturalist, and come ready to explore!
