Restoration Wednesday
Join for Restoration Wednesdays at GreenUP Ecology Park in July! This series offers an excellent opportunity to engage in meaningful outdoor work, learn about native plants and invasive species, and connect with like-minded community members.
Learn something new each week! From native and invasive plant identification, to strategies for managing invasive species, and preparing restoration areas for planting and regeneration.
No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and get your hands dirty!
What to Bring:
Sturdy, closed-toe shoes
Long pants & sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
Rain coat (weather dependent)
Water bottle
Lunch and snacks
Accessibility & Weather:
We aim to make these events flexible and inclusive. Tasks will involve bending, kneeling, digging, and walking on uneven terrain. If you are unsure about your capacity, let us know; we’ll find a way for you to contribute meaningfully! In heavy rain, we will switch to sheltered tasks. If you have accessibility needs or concerns, please get in touch with us in advance. We have an accessible washroom. However, only some areas of the Park are fully accessible to mobility device users.
Perks for Volunteers:
Learn hands-on ecological restoration skills.
Meet great people and engage with your community.
Enjoy a one-time 10% discount off native plant purchases at our Native Tree and Plant Nursery.
