Jack in the Pulpit

This unique woodland wildflower looks like a tiny preacher in his covered pulpit. The purple and green flower later becomes a cluster of bright red berries.

For shady locations and humus-rich soil.
Jack in the Pulpit can change sexes. All plants start off as male, pollen bearing flowers. Over time if growing conditions are right, the plant becomes female and produce berries. If conditions change and nutrients are lacking, the plant can change back to male.

Height: 12-36 inches

Sun Requirements: Forest floor species requires spring sun and summer shade

Water Requirements: Normal to moist humus rich soils
