Red Osier Dogwood

This common shoreline shrub has bright red branches which look beautiful against the snow in winter.  It has fluffy white blossoms in June, and bluish-white berries that ripen in mid-summer.  Excellent for preventing shoreline erosion and providing food and cover for waterfowl.  Moist to mesic soil and full sun (will tolerate some shade).

Height: 7-13 feet

Sun Requirements: Prefers full sun but will tolerate some shade

Water Requirements: Prefers wetter soils but will tolerate normal to moist soils

Flowers: White flowers in May/June

Attracts: Squirrels, birds, butterflies, bees
