Staghorn Sumac

An excellent shrub for steep, dry slopes, Staghorn sumac tolerates tough conditions, and spreads quickly to form colonies. Branches are covered by a fine hair similar to the horns of a stag. Full sun and well-drained soil. Exceptional fall colour. Give it lots of room to spread!

Height: Up to 25 feet

Sun Requirements: Prefers full sun but will tolerate some shade

Water Requirements: Dry to Normal conditions

Flowers: Yellow/brown flowers in June/July

Attracts: Birds, bees, butterflies

Special Tolerances: Drought, salt, Juglones/Walnuts
